Meet Silav Selman: New Elementary Paraprofessional – Silav was born in Fargo, and grew up in Moorhead, MN. She graduated from Moorhead High School in 2018 and attended Minnesota State and Community Technical College (Mstate), earning an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. Ms. Selman has previously worked at the Clay County Jail and a treatment center. She hopes to soon obtain her Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice to one day become a police officer or a probation officer.  

Silav recently moved to Oakes with her boyfriend, OHS Alumni Chris Schmit, and that is how she came to work at OPS. In her spare time, she enjoys working out and taking her dog on walks. Ms. Selman is excited to work with the students and staff of OES and meet new people in Oakes! Welcome to OPS, Silav - we look forward to getting to know you, too!
