June 9th Referendum Information

June 9th Referendum Information
You've probably heard the word "referendum" — but what does it actually mean for Oakes?

A school facilities referendum is a community vote that allows the district to fund major building repairs and improvements. If passed on June 9th, the funds would go directly toward two specific projects chosen by the School Facilities Improvement Committee — a group of community members and district staff who reviewed the 2025 facility evaluation and prioritized the work that they felt matters most.

Here's what you need to know:
→ Vote date: June 9, 2025
→ Total investment: $6.3 million — in line with what community survey respondents said they preferred→ What's funded: two targeted projects at the high school and elementary school
→ Who decides: Oakes community voters — that means you

In the coming weeks we'll share exactly what those two projects are and why the committee chose them. Have a question already? Drop it in the comments.
