Oakes Public School PTO Turf Project Receives $2,500

An initiative started by Oakes Public Schools’ Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is gaining momentum and members are excited to keep it going. With the addition of a $2,500 grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota Caring Foundation, funds have gone from $0 to $7,500 in just a few short weeks for the Playground Turf Project.

Oakes Public Schools’ PTO is thrilled to be selected as a 2019 grant recipient and tremendously grateful the Caring Foundation believes in the positive impact this new green space will have on the physical, metal and social development of our students. On behalf of OPS PTO, thank you to our friends at BCBS ND for your generous investment in this project and the overall health and well-being of our students.

Starting with Irrigation Days, PTO will implement a variety of fundraising activities over the next year, allowing businesses and community members to partner with them in the creation of a vibrant, sustainable green space on the OPS playground. Through a combination of fundraising efforts, grants and individual and business contributions, PTO has their sights set on raising $100,000 to purchase and install the new turf.

If you’re interested in getting involved and investing in our community, we encourage you to join us and keep the momentum going! To learn how you can support the Playground Turf Project, contact OPS PTO President, Trista Gemar.
