Welcome to the 2011-2012 Oakes High School academic year. OHS is committed to providing a safe, orderly and equitable environment to support student learning.  We are looking forward to a fun and productive school year.  It’s always exciting to watch and share with students in their academic and personal successes.

One of our goals at Oakes High School is to serve and nurture all of our students. The high school experience of today is filled with more pressure, more competition, and higher expectations than ever before. We empathize with this and at the same time do not lower our expectations; rather we encourage and support all students in meeting their goals.

For a relatively small high school, Oakes High offers a wide range of academic classes.  Students have the advantage of selecting a full schedule of seven courses a year, or a minimum of six academic classes a year to meet the 24 credits required for graduation.

I also want to remind you of the services available through the school counseling program at OHS.  The Guidance and Counseling Program offers classroom lessons with a range of topics appropriate to different grade levels that are designed to promote success in everyday life. Counselors also work individually with students on college admissions or other post high school graduation programs; personal counseling and systems support are also part of the school counselor’s role.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me by e-mail or phone. I also welcome appointments to meet in person. You can contact me at 742-3234 ext 309 or at this e-mail address:  kleingarn@oakes.k12.nd.us
I look forward to working with you to make this a great learning year!
