In honor of Reading Month, Oakes Public School’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) recently held AR Parents’ Night, a fun event for students and parents to celebrate reading. On Monday, March 11, and Tuesday, March 12, the Oakes School and Public Library was full of excited students cheering on their parents as they took Accelerated Reader (AR) quizzes on chosen books. During that time, the parents got an inside look at what AR quizzes were all about. The turnout for the event was spectacular, as over 180 quizzes were taken!
In addition, parents and students also enjoyed reading-themed snacks and students were able to sign up for prizes. Students in grades K-2 entered their names for a chance to win a parent lunch pass, while students in grades 3-6 entered to win a student movie pass. The winners from each grade were: Hadley Bosse (Kindergarten), Colton Slusher (1st Grade), Peyton Rodine (2nd Grade), Kaden Steinhoff (3rd Grade), Jaxon Gebhardt (4th Grade), Brooklyn Witkowski (5th Grade), and Mallory Domine (6th Grade).
The Oakes PTO would like to thank their members who made the night possible and all the students and parents who made the night a success.
