On October 30th and 31st representatives from Oakes Public Schools joined four other North Dakota school districts and the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction in Jamestown to kick-start a new five-year effort to advance personalized learning for North Dakota students.
Members of newly formed District Design Teams from each district engaged in deep conversations about each community’s unique vision for students and what it will mean to be ready for life after high school in the future.
The gathering was the first of many regular opportunities that members of Oakes Public Schools’ Design team – teachers, school board members, administrators, and parents – will have to connect with and learn from other districts.
Over the next five years, Oakes Public Schools will also receive personalized strategic planning support and professional development from national non-profit KnowledgeWorks, the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction and other national partners including EdLeader21 and the Center for Collaborative Education to mention a few. This support will be driven by the unique needs of our community and focused on equipping our people to lead and sustain impact long after this five-year engagement.
